Shannon Cutting enters her fifth season as head diving coach at Colgate University in 2014-15. Cutting brings heartfelt energy and enthusiasm in helping her divers perform their best.

She tutored the 2011 Diver of the Meet, Kim Pilka, who broke both diving Patriot League reocrds during the championships.

As a freshman, Kim Pilka broke the freshman three-meter pool record with a score of 280.55. This score also served as a qualifying score to compete in the NCAA Zones diving competition. During the Patriot League Championships, Pilka finished second on one-meter and seventh on three-meter. As a junior, Becky Fisher took a semester abroad, and came back to place eighth on one-meter and fifth on three-meter in the league championships. Two Raider divers were named Patriot League Diver of the Week.

Cutting brings two years of collegiate diving experience at the NCAA Division I level from Bowling Green State University as well as serving four years as a diving coach at the club level in Weston, Conn. She lettered three years in diving at The Peddie School in Hightstown, N.J. and captured three diving titles at the New England Prep Championships and won the New Jersey State Prep title twice.

Cutting, graduated with a Bachelor of Education degree with an emphasis in Sport Science and Physical Fitness from Bowling Green State University. At Bowling Green, Cutting was named the Most Valuable Diver her freshman season, finishing eighth on the three-meter and ninth in the one-meter at the 1984 Mid American Conference Championships.

In 1992, coach Cutting graduated from Parker College of Chiropractic in Dallas, TX. While practicing chiropractic for 12 years in San Antonio, Texas, she began coaching triathletes of various levels. She served as the triathlon and cycling coach for the Team in Training at the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in San Antonio, Texas.

Her husband’s military career gave Shannon numerous opportunities to take up coaching positions across the pacific. She was the head swim coach for the Hickam Hurricanes in Hawaii, as well as the cross country coach at Campbell High School in Ewa, Hawaii. While living on Guam, Shannon taught strength training and fitness conditioning at the University of Guam. Shannon is the second person to run the 50 mile stretch around the southern perimeter of Guam solo, where she holds the record.

Cutting, an ultra endurance athlete has completed seven Ironman triathlons. She holds two course records in the full distance triathlon, in FL and NV. She has earned two 3rd place and one 5th place finish at the Hawaii Ironman World Championships (2000, 2002, 2004). Recently, coach Cutting successfully ran 100 miles in Lanesboro, PA on the Delaware-Hudson rails to trial, followed by a 3rd place finish at the 2010 New York State 100K Ultra Championships.

Cutting has the following certifications: Lifeguard/CPR Certification, USA Swimming Coach Certification, USA Diving Safety Certification, ASCA Level 2, Yoga Fit Certification.
