Ed Hefferon

Ed Hefferon is in his second season as the diving coach at Colgate University. He assists head coach Stephen Jungbluth in all aspects of the Raider swimming and diving program, and his primary responsibilities involve the coaching and recruitment of Colgate's divers.

Hefferon came to Colgate from Cheshire, Conn., where he served as an assistant diving coach for the CT Elite Diving program. During his time as assistant coach, Hefferon coached the 2007 third-place finisher at the LL Division meet, as well as the State Open's fifth-place finisher. Hefferon also trained the 2007 SWC High School Champion and two SWC qualifiers. In 2007, his team was undefeated and broke pool and league season records.

Prior to his time with CT Elite, Hefferon was the aquatics coordinator at the Woodruff, Conn., YMCA. His duties included pool maintenance, lifeguard scheduling, swimming instruction, payroll management, and hiring new staff.

Hefferon was a four-year letterwinner at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. While at UMass, Heffron was a three-time NCAA qualifier. He holds the school records in both the 3-meter (11 dives) and 1-meter (6 dives) competitions. He placed in the top five at the Atlantic-10 Conference Championship all four years in both events.

Hefferon graduated from UMass in 2000 with a bachelor's degree in  communications.
