Derick Roe joined the men's and women's swimming and diving program as an assistant in 2010. He comes to Hamilton after a four-year career at Eastern Michigan.
Roe was a four-year letterwinner at Eastern Michigan and a two-time NCAA mid-major All-American. He was a two-time Mid-American Conference Swimmer of the Year honoree and holds the MAC record in the 50-yard freestyle.
He qualified for Olympic Swimming Trials in 2008 as a member of Club Wolverine under current Colgate head coach Fernando Canales. Roe was formerly ranked 58th in the FINA World rankings for the 50-meter freestyle.
While at Eastern, he coached at Green Hills High School in Ann Arbor, Mich, and mentored swimmers for the Ypsilanti Otters Swim Club. Roe also was a councilor at a number of University of Michigan swim camps.
Roe graduated in 2010 from Eastern Michigan with degrees in history and electronic media and film studies.
