Colgate head coach Kathy Brawn announced in December 2015 that Alyssa Manoogian ’13 was promoted to the women’s soccer top assistant after one season as the second assistant. She enters her fifth overall season with the coaching staff in 2019.

“Alyssa stepped into her coaching role in 2015 and stood out as an excellent trainer, recruiter and mentor,” Brawn said. “She and I work very well together, and the players like and respect her.”

Manoogian helped coach Colgate to its ninth, tenth, and 11th consecutive Patriot League Tournament appearances in 2016, 2017, and 2018 and 26th overall in the league’s 28-year existence.

During her tenure so far on the Raiders coaching staff, she has mentored two Patriot League Midfielders of the Year, a Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year, Patriot League Rookie of the Year and nearly 20 All-Patriot League picks.

“As a Colgate graduate and former Raider captain, Alyssa has a deep understanding of what it takes to succeed in this setting,” Brawn added. “She is also a dedicated student of the game and brings a great energy to all that she does.

“It was a no brainer to move her into the first assistant position. Alyssa has a bright future as a collegiate coach. I am genuinely happy things fell into place and that she has chosen to remain at Colgate.”

The 2013 graduate is very familiar to the Colgate culture, having helped the Raiders win their 11th and 12th Patriot League titles during her rookie and senior campaigns, respectively.

“I am so incredibly excited and honored to be stepping into this new role on the coaching staff with the Colgate women's soccer team,” Manoogian said. “It was truly incredible to be able to work so closely with Kathy and the entire women's soccer program this past season.

“I am grateful for the support I have received from the Colgate community as a student-athlete and now as a member of the staff. I feel fortunate to be able to do the work that I love at a place that means so much to me. I am ecstatic to be able to continue learning from and coaching with Kathy; she has been an immensely impactful mentor. I am eager to begin my new role, and I am looking forward to what lies ahead in preparing for next fall.”

Prior to returning to her alma mater, Manoogian spent two seasons as an assistant women's soccer coach at Utica College. During her time there she helped with all facets of the program including day-to-day operations in the office, recruiting, scouting as well as game and practice preparation.

Manoogian helped guide four Pioneers to Empire 8 All-Conference honors, while an impressive 15 were named to the President's List during her tenure.

Aside from her playing career, Manoogian is involved with Odyssey Sport Soccer Club, where she serves as a head coach and assistant coach for the U11 and U10 girls team, respectively. She was also an assistant coach for the District Select Girls' Soccer Team from 2010-2012. There, Manoogian coached and mentored 12, 13, and 14-year old girls along with winning the district championship in 2010 and 2011. She worked on teaching tactical and technical skills including trapping, passing dribbling and shooting techniques as well as providing insight on the ability to read the game and develop individual skills.

Originally from Peabody, Massachusetts, Alyssa graduated from Colgate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in education and was a four-year letter winner under Brawn.
