Biography

Senior Year (2011): DeRoo was extremely succesful, finishing on top of every race.  She started out the year winning the Harry Long Invitational, finishing the 4200-meter race with a time of of 15:48, the second best time ever recorded at the meet.  At the Colgate Invitational, DeRoo lead the Raiders with a time of 22:11, finishing 12th overall.  At the Paul Short Run DeRoo posted a time of 21:14 to finish 32nd overall among 396 runners, to lead the women's cross country team in the gold race of the Paul Short Run.  She also participated in the Penn State Invitational, finishing 13th overall with a time of 21:47.  She finished third overall to lead the women's cross country team at the Patriot League Championships hosted at Lehigh University, with a time of 22:08.5. She was also selected as the Patriot League Women's Cross Country Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and was one of seven runners in the league to be named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team.

Junior Year (2010): DeRoo, the 2010 Patriot League Runner of the Year, won her second-straight Patriot League Championship in 2010 and earned all-Region honors after finishing sixth overall at the Northeast Regional with a time of 20:16.3. DeRoo led Colgate at every meet in 2010 and won three out right individual titles. DeRoo set the course record at the Harry Lang and Colgate Invitationals with times of 15:08 and 21:07. DeRoo was the first Raider to compete at tne NCAA Championships and was named the Patriot League Women's Cross Country Scholar Athlete of the Year. 

Sophomore Year (2009): DeRoo had a stellar first race at the Harry Lang Invitational. Not only did she win the race, dropping over a minute from her freshman year split, but she also was only a second off the course record set by teammate Stacey Marion in 2007. She was the Patriot League Cross Country Champion in 2009 and ran her PR at the Paul Short Invitational finishing a 6k in only 20.41. DeRoo is an active member on Colgate's campus. She works in a Biology lab sequencing DNA and is part of the Colgate Student Pre-Health Association.

Freshman Year (2008): DeRoo began her Colgate Cross Country year with an outstanding performance at the Harry Lang Invitational, finishing second for the team. Her season was cut short due illness.

Before Colgate: DeRoo was a four-year Varsity letter winner and two-season Captain in Cross Country and Outdoor Track. Her senior year, DeRoo was the CT Southwest Conference Champion in both the 3200m and the 1600m. She earned All-State honors for Cross Country and Track and Field her senior year, subsequently receiving the MVP for her Cross Country and Track and Field teams. DeRoo ended her High School Career with a personal record of 2:20 in the 800m, 5:02 in the 1600m, and 10:58 in the 3200m ... was also a member of the Interact Club and the National Honors Society.

Personal: Elise DeRoo was born in Havehill, Mass., the daughter of Linda and Donald DeRoo. She has two siblings, Scott and Chris DeRoo ... molecular biology.
