Cara Murphy is in her second season as the Assistant Women’s Rowing Coach.
Murphy coaches the novice program and assists with daily team administration. In 2016-17, the novice program won the Novice 8+ at the Kerr Cup and medaled in the Murphy Cup and the Frostbite, Bill Braxton, and Head of the Fish regattas.
Murphy arrived after two seasons as assistant coach at Division III Smith College, where she coached the lower varsity boats and assisted with facilities administration.
Murphy was a four-year varsity member and served as team captain at Mount Holyoke College, where she earned many school and league academic and rowing honors. Murphy began her rowing career in Cleveland, and was a member of the first crew from Shaker Heights High School to win a regional championship and podium at the Scholastic National Regatta.
During the summers, Murphy serves as the head of sculling at Hosmer Point Camp in Vermont.
Previous stops included the Craftsbury Outdoor Center in Vermont, Holyoke Rows and Hamp Crew in Massachusetts and the Western Reserve Rowing Association in Ohio.
Murphy earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Mount Holyoke College in 2014 and her master’s in sports and exercise studies from Smith College in 2016.
