Colgate Women’s Basketball head coach Bill Cleary announced the addition of Sarah Shaw as the team’s director of basketball operations beginning in January 2021.

Shaw with the Raiders handles team social media, travel arrangements and film exchange, while assisting with the coordination of community engagements.

Shaw arrived after two-plus seasons as an assistant coach in the Division III ranks, first at Bridgewater State and then Elmira.

Her tenure at Elmira marked a return to the Empire 8 Conference, where she played for Hartwick. Shaw served as an assistant coach with the Soaring Eagles and was promoted in her second year to additional duties as recruiting coordinator. In addition to her on-court coaching and recruiting responsibilities, she also managed practice planning, scouting reports, team video and film sessions.

Shaw’s success led to her selection with the WBCA’s coveted So You Want to Be a Coach Program for 2020.

Shaw earned her first assistant coaching position at Bridgewater State in Massachusetts. She helped the Bears to a 14-13 overall record and a MASCAC tournament semifinal appearance. Under her watch, seven players earned MASCAC All-Academic honors and senior forward Kailyn Aguiar was named to the MASCAC All-Conference First Team.

Shaw graduated from Hartwick College in 2017 after a four-year women’s basketball career. Her best season came as a senior when she established herself as a key 3-and-D wing for the Hawks. She appeared in all 26 games and paced Hartwick with 26 blocked shots. Shaw wrapped up her final campaign seventh in the E8 in both 3-pointers made and blocks. For her efforts, Shaw was named to the Empire 8 Sportswoman of the Year Team.

The Franklin, Massachusetts, native graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. She is nearing completion of her master’s in Management at Elmira College.
