Head Women's Basketball Coach announced Roneeka Hodges as an assistant coach in June 2021.
Hodges comes to Colgate after a one-year stint at Old Dominion, where she helped lead the team to 13 wins and a Conference USA Tournament semifinal appearance in 2020-21.
In her most recent season, Old Dominion closed out the regular season with four wins in its last five games and knocked off C-USA Tournament champion Middle Tennessee. The momentum continued into the postseason, where the Monarchs secured three wins in three days to reach the semifinals and pushed Rice, the west’s top seed, to the limit in a narrow 62-60 decision.
While at Old Dominion, Hodges aided in the development of one All-Conference USA First Team selection, four Second Team honorees, two All-Defensive Team picks, and a Sixth Player of the Year.
Hodges was drafted 15th overall in the 2005 WNBA Draft. First playing for the Houston Comets, Hodges enjoyed an extensive professional career, making stops with the Indiana Fever, San Antonio Silver Stars, Atlanta Dream, Minnesota Lynx and the Tulsa Shock. Competing overseas, Hodges competed in eight different leagues as a guard. While playing in the WNBA, Hodges played in 297 games for five teams in 11 seasons, posting career averages of 6.0 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists.
Prior to her professional career, from 2000-05, Hodges played college basketball at LSU for three years before completing her eligibility at Florida State. During her time with the Tigers, Hodges played in 94 games, earning 37 starts. In 2001, she earned Honorable Mention Freshman All-American according to womenscollegehoops.com.
Her senior season at Florida State, Hodges earned 2004-05 Kodak Region II All-American honors and was selected to play in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) All-Star Challenge.
A native of New Orleans, La., Hodges graduated from Florida State with a degree in Social Sciences.
