Bass came to Colgate after serving as a head coach for one season at Longwood University. The Lancers finished 8-21 in 2006-07, playing two top 25 teams and five NCAA Tournament squads. The Lancers also captured the Lancer Invitational for the first time since 2002. She mentored one NCAA Division I all-Independent Honorable Mention player in 2006-07.

“It is an honor to become part of the Colgate community as women’s basketball coach,” Bass said.  “Colgate has all of the components that I have dreamed about in a head coaching position. It’s an amazing academic learning environment with passionate students and alumni who cherish the Colgate experience.”

Prior to her stint at Longwood, Bass served as an assistant coach at Brown University for five seasons. She helped guide the Bears from eighth place in the Ivy League in 2001 to the 2006 Ivy League title, the program’s first since the 1993-94 season and an overall Ivy League record of 50-16.  With the Bears she was instrumental in all aspects of the program. She served as the recruiting coordinator, bringing in impact players, including the 2006 Ivy League Player of the Year and the 2003 Ivy League Rookie of the Year. Bass also was the team’s defensive coordinator and was responsible for player development and scouting. During her tenure at Brown, the Bears had the Ivy League’s top defense for four years.

Bass spent two seasons as an assistant at Yale University (1999-01), University of Hartford (1998-99), University of Illinois at Chicago (1996-98), and at Providence College (1993). She served as the recruiting coordinator at Hartford, Illinois-Chicago, and Providence, and was a member of an entirely new coaching staff at Yale.

She helped lead Providence to the 1996 BIG EAST Co-Divisional title and co-designed the Friars’ offense. While at Providence she was named an assistant coach of the 1995 BIG  EAST All-Stars who toured Australia. Bass also spent two seasons as a graduate intern at The University of Texas. She assisted with scouting, tape analysis, recruiting correspondence, among other duties as the Longhorns earned spots in the NCAA Tournament both seasons.

Bass is a member of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association and was elected as an assistant coach representative in 1994.
