Colgate head coach Bill Cleary promoted Katie Curtis to an assistant coach in summer 2018 after she spent one season as Director of Women's Basketball Operations.

Curtis and the Raiders are coming off one of the best seasons in program history. Colgate finished 19-11 in 2019-20 for the second-most wins and just the second winning season in 33 years of Division I play.

Colgate fashioned a 6½-game improvement over the previous season's 12-17 record and finished above .500 in the Patriot League for just the third time at 11-7. The Raiders were picked to finish sixth in the preseason but exceeded those expectation with a third-place result.

Curtis helped Rachel Thompson cap off one of the top careers in the annals of Colgate Women’s Basketball. Thompson earned All-Patriot League First Team and All-Defensive Team honors in 2019-20 on her way to becoming the No. 6 scorer in Raiders history with 1,282 points. She finished third in career rebounds, third in field goal percentage, sixth in free throw percentage, second in assist average and sixth in steals.

Thompson also set a program season mark as a senior with 144 assists and a 4.8 average, tying for the Patriot League lead in both categories.

Curtis coached first-year Alexa Brodie to a place on the Patriot League All-Rookie Team. Brodie started 28 games at point guard in 2019-20 and finished second on the team and 13th among Patriot League leaders in assist average at 2.4.

Curtis put together an outstanding playing career in her own right with the Colgate Raiders. She graduated as Colgate’s season (41.6) and career (38.6) leader in 3-point shooting percentage and was a 2017 All-Patriot League Second Team selection.

The Lebanon, Indiana, product during her senior year ranked among the conference statistical leaders in six categories, including scoring at 12.8 and 3-point shooting at 41.6 percent to earn her program record. That scoring figure also led the team.

She graduated 12th on the all-time Colgate list with 98 made 3-pointers, and her 47 made during 2016-17 were the 10th-most in program history for one season.

Among her duties, Curtis manages the scout teams during practices and assists in the overall recruiting effort.
