Colleen Kelly is in her second season as an assistant coach for Colgate. Kelly, a 2006 graduate of Brown University, also previously served as an assistant at Longwood University after playing for the Bears for four seasons. Bass was an assistant coach at Brown during Kelly’s career. During her four seasons at Brown, Kelly earned Ivy League all-rookie honors and was named second-team all-Ivy League when she helped lead the Bears to the Ivy League title as a senior. She currently holds the record for three-pointers in a career with 170 and compiled 1,080 career points to become Brown’s 12th 1,000-point scorer.
“Coach Kelly brings a work ethic and love for the game every day,” Bass said. “She establishes a wonderful rapport with the student-athletes, while also knowing the effect that details make in the success of a program. She is a great fit for our student-athletes at Colgate and we are fortunate to have her on staff.”
Kelly is a graduate of the WBCA’s Nike So You Want to Be a Coach Program. She has worked numerous summer basketball camps and clinics in both Rhode Island and New York and also earned many academic-related awards, including the United States Army Reserve National Scholar-Athlete and U.S. Marine Corp Distinguished Athlete awards.
A native of Webster, N.Y., Kelly earned her Bachelor of Science degree in business economics from Brown in 2006. Additionally, she was a three-sport standout at Webster Schroeder High School in Rochester, N.Y., where she is the all-time leading scorer in Warrior basketball history.
