Andrea Gross is in her second season as an assistant coach at Colgate. Gross previously served as an assistant coach at Longwood University for one season. The Lancers finished 8-21 overall in 2006-07. Prior to her one-year stint in Farmville, Gross was an assistant coach at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), for two seasons.
“Coach Gross brings an excitement and passion to everything she does,” Bass said. “In her five years as a coach at the collegiate level, she has already established herself as one of the top assistant coaches in women’s basketball. She is a tremendous recruiter and teacher of the game. Her work ethic and communication skills are excellent. I am honored that Coach Gross shares the same vision of Colgate basketball.
While at IUPUI, she helped the Jags go from 7-21 in 2004-05 to 17-11 in 2006-07, the third best turnaround in Division I that season. In addition to on-court coaching responsibilities, she acted as the recruiting and academic coordinator, and assisted with scouting, compliance, community relations, alumnae relations, game-day preparation and activities, along with practice scheduling.
Prior to her two years at IUPUI, Gross was an assistant at California University of Pennsylvania from 2002-04. She helped lead the Vulcans to the 2004 NCAA Division II National Championship after advancing to the national semifinals in 2003. At Cal, she was the recruiting coordinator and the team’s academic coordinator while assisting in all aspects of coaching with additional responsibility in developing the summer camps.
Gross was a four-year member of the women’s basketball team at William and Mary, serving as team captain during her senior year. She was the Tribe’s Defensive Player of the Year as a freshman, and ranks third in Tribe history in career blocks.
A native of Pueblo, Colorado, Gross earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in kinesiology with a minor in sociology from William and Mary in 2002, and her master’s degree in business administration from California (Pa.) in 2004.
