Rebecca Mueller was named the Colgate softball assistant coach in August 2016.
Mueller recently wrapped up her first season as a Raider, helping the team to a strong increase in offensive production. Mueller helped coach Colgate to a 51-point increase in batting average compared to the prior season (.222 in 2016, .273 in 2017), an over 100-point bump in slugging percentage (.312 in 2016, .417 in 2017) and nearly double the home run production (15 in 2016, 29 in 2017) during her first season as a Raider.
Mueller comes to Colgate after a four-year playing career at the College of Charleston where she was a two-time All-CAA pick. The Fair Oaks, Calif. native hit .369 as a senior in 2016 to earn third team NFCA Mid-Atlantic All-Region honors as well as her team’s Offensive Player of the Year award. The centerfielder recorded 66 hits as a senior, the tenth most hits in a single season in College of Charleston history.
Mueller started all four years of her career in both left and center field as she helped lead the College of Charleston to three 35-plus win seasons.
Mueller has been a clinician at a number of softball camps and clinics across the country, organizing drills and learning techniques while instructing elite players. Most recently, Mueller coached Team California, an 18 gold team, over the summer. She ran practices and drills with the athletes and participated in nation-wide tournaments with other national-ranked teams.
Mueller graduated from the College of Charleston with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science in May 2016.
