Dr. Nicki Webber Moore began her role as Colgate University’s Vice President and Director of Athletics on June 13, 2018. In this role, she leads the University’s 25 NCAA Division I varsity athletics programs, as well as club sports, intramural and recreational programs, the outdoor education program and a physical education program for all Colgate students.

Under Moore’s leadership, Colgate Athletics has developed a clear vision and a Third Century Plan for Athletics around three primary strategies:

Recruit: Attract the most talented and motivated students, student-athletes and staff possible who are committed to excel in academics, athletics, and in their career and personal development.
Support: Provide the necessary personnel and program support to promote the optimal development, performance and experience of Colgate student-athletes, students and staff.
Build: Build and maintain physical spaces and an inclusive culture to inspire and undergird the pursuit of league championships and national tournament appearances, and to encourage the vigorous pursuit of health,
wellness and connection among all students and staff.

Strategic Improvements
To date, Colgate student-athletes have maintained their extraordinary level of academic achievement, boasting one of the highest graduation success rates in the nation at 98 percent. The Raiders under Moore have won eight league championships, with teams going on to compete in 12 NCAA and IRA postseason competitions, garnering six postseason wins.

Program support has improved through advances in fundraising, the negotiation of a department-wide Under Armour contract, and an overhaul of the Strength and Conditioning Program. Moore led the Division in developing a new visual identity launched in Fall 2020, and oversaw the Division’s effort to support Colgate’s nationally-recognized Covid-19 response. Additionally, new resources have been added including new endowments, six new scholarships, and an enhanced March Mania fundraising program.

Facility improvements since 2018 have included improvements across sports with projects improving lighting, turf, recruiting spaces, flooring, and locker rooms, as well as a new video board, sound system and plaza at Andy Kerr Stadium.

The division has supported significant Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives, including the Spring 2020 opening of the Raiders of Color Connect Lounge, and the Fall 2020 launch of the Plan to Build an Inclusive Community. The Division’s Professional Development Series for all coaches and staff has offered a two-day coaching development seminar, a 13-session Positive Coaching Initiative and a 13-week Division-wide small group book study.

New student-athlete support services and leadership programs have been implemented including Raider Refuel, the Colgate Mental Performance Program, Wellness Advocates and Career Ambassadors. Additionally a comprehensive four-year student-athlete development programming plan was launched in Fall 2020.

Prior to Colgate
Moore has demonstrated her ability to lead, mentor, and inspire people to perform at the highest levels in intercollegiate athletics. Before joining Colgate, she served as a Senior Associate Athletics Director and Senior Woman Administrator at the University of North Carolina (2015-18) and the University of Oklahoma (2008-15). She earned her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology in 2002 with an emphasis in Sport Psychology along with her M.A. (1998) and B.S. Ed. (1996) from the University of Missouri, where she also was a four-time captain on the track and field and cross country teams. As a student-athlete, she was the inaugural SAAC president for two years, was a three-time conference champion, qualified for the NCAA Championships twice and earned silver medals at the USA Outdoor Junior Nationals and the Junior Pan Am Games. An Academic All-American, she earned postgraduate scholarships from both the NCAA and the Big 12 Conference.

While in Chapel Hill, Moore served as a member of the Athletics Department Executive team, guiding 25 sport administrators for 28 sports and more than 800 student-athletes. She also spearheaded various initiatives to expand sport program support, enrich the student-athlete experience, inspire coach and staff engagement, renew strategic focus, and enhance the development and management of departmental resources. Such efforts included leading a comprehensive Title IX review process, developing various mentoring and professional development programs, and co-authoring the "Together We Win" 2018 UNC Strategic Plan. She supported fundraising and development efforts as the Rams Club Liaison, guided a redesign process for the Carolina Leadership Academy, and founded UNC’s Athletics Mental Health and Performance Psychology Program.

Moore’s accomplishments at the University of Oklahoma included pioneering the Psychological Resources for OU Student-Athletes Program and overseeing the Academic Advising and Student-Athlete Support unit. Sooner student-athletes during Moore’s time in Norman achieved their highest cumulative GPA in history at that time, while also realizing increases in graduation and Academic Progress Rates. She led the strategic planning efforts of the department for nine of her 11 years at OU, was party to multiple national championship and conference championship teams, oversaw facility development projects, and supported the recruitment and hiring of many notable head coaches.

National Leader in Student-Athlete Experience
Moore is a national leader in matters impacting the student-athlete experience, currently serving as the President of the Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association, having served for six years as a member of the NCAA Strategic Visioning and Planning Committee, a member of the NCAA Mental Health Task Force, and a Fellow for the Collegiate Clinical/Counseling Sport Psychology Association. She is driven to deliver excellent student-athlete and fan experiences and to invite alumni, friends and fans to be an integral part of inspiring Colgate student-athletes to excel in every field and every arena.

Nicki and her husband, Dr. Bill Moore, have four sons: Ian, Cullen, Tyler, and Brennan.
