Lucas Burdick is beginning his first season as an assistant coach for the Raiders cross country and track and field teams.  Burdick will take over the major role as recruiting coordinator, as well as coaching the student-athletes in all events.  His strengths are the distance events, with which he will work with more closely.  Burdick will also train all the Raiders in strength development.  Prior to Colgate, Burdick was an assistant track and field / distance coach at SUNY Plattsburgh for 4 years, producing 3 regional champions, 18 national qualifiers, and 9 All-Americans.
As an undergraduate at SUNY Cobleskill, Burdick captained his cross country team and was the Mountain Valley Conference champion in the 5k, a Junior College National Championship qualifier in the 10,000m, and an Academic All-American.  At SUNY Plattsburgh, he captained both the cross country and track and field teams, and was an ECAC qualifier in the 10,000m run.
Burdick’s primary coaching responsibilities include strength training and development for all events.  He will assist with the coaching of all events, focusing mostly on the distance races.
The Raiders are excited to have Coach Burdick join us as we continue to compete in the Patriot League.  With his expertise and understanding of the sport, Burdick will lead the raiders far in this 2008-2009 season.  Burdick is a USATF Level I certified coach.
