Gabe Sanders is in his first season as the assistant coach for the Colgate men's cross country and track and field teams. Sanders will assist with recruiting and administrative responsibilities, as well as with coaching all student-athletes in the programs.
 
His primary coaching duties will be the strength training of all athletes. He will assist with the coaching of all events with a focus on sprints, jumps, and middle distance runners, and relay teams.
 
Sanders joined the Raider staff after serving as an assistant coach for the men and women’s track and field teams at Williams College. While with the Ephs, he designed and implemented training regiments for all multi-event athletes and those in the jumps. During his tenure at Williams he helped the event athletes earn 12 All-American certificates and set eight school records.
 
He also served as the event coach of the USTFCCCA New England Region Field Athlete of the Year for both indoor and outdoor seasons, while the event athletes under his watch contributed 21 of the team’s 42 total points to win the 2007 NCAA Women’s Indoor Championship and four points to the men’s 14th-place finish.
 
He also served as an assistant director and lead instructor at Sandy Sanders Camps of Champions, helping to design and implement speed and agility training regiments for various teams in the Ann Arbor, Mich. area during the past seven years.
 
Sanders competed at the University of Michigan for the 2002-03 seasons as a sprinter and jumper. He served as the Wolverines’ student manager in 2001-02 and 2003-04. He was responsible for the daily setup of practices, coordinating distribution of equipment and other office duties. He also served as a counselor at the Michigan Summer Track and Field Camp and Speed and Agility Camp for the past six years.
 
Sanders earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in kinesiology with a major in sport management and communication from Michigan in December of 2005.  He earned his USA Track and Field Level I Coaching Certification in 2004 and his Level II Certification in the summer of 2007.
