Sean Piner

Sean Piner joined the Colgate coaching staff in September 2018. 

In his third season at Colgate, Piner helped guide both programs to successful 2020-21 seasons. Both teams had a strong showing at both the April Pools Invitational and the Patriot League Challenge meet. With the team’s success at the April Pools Invitational, senior Caroline LaPlante was named Female Diver of the Meet.
 
Piner helped lead both teams to successful seasons in his second year at Colgate. The women’s swimming & diving team finished the 2019-20 season with a 3-5 record, which was highlighted by wins against Niagra and Canisius. The Raiders had a strong finish to the season they picked up a Patriot League win against Lafayette. On the men’s side, Colgate had great performances against Niagra as well as at the Patriot League Championships.
 
In his first year at Hamilton, Piner helped lead the women’s team to a 4-4 overall record and a seventh-place finish at the Patriot League Championships. The men’s team also had a strong showing in the 2018-19 season as they placed 10th at the Patriot League Championships.

Piner comes to Hamilton after spending the past two years as the head dive coach at Floyd Central High School in Indiana. He also served as the head dive coach at Derby City Diving and was the co-founder and head dive coach of the Mid-America Athletic Training Center.

Competitively, Piner had a decorated career at the University of Louisville. He was the 2013 Big East Platform champion, was an American Athletic Conference finalist on all three boards in 2014 and became the first male diver in school history to qualify for the NCAA Championships in 2016. He also holds the school record for the one-meter and three-meter dive.

The Atlanta native earned a degree in Sports Administration from Louisville in December 2016.
