Joe Ahearn was named the Colgate men's soccer assistant coach in August of 2005.

Before coming to Colgate, Ahearn spent three seasons at DePaul University as an assistant coach for the men's soccer program. At DePaul, Ahearn was involved in the day-to-day operations of the program and assisted in the preparation of games.

Prior to his time at DePaul, Ahearn worked as the equipment operations coordinator for the United States Soccer Federation. He traveled with the team to the 2002 Korea/Japan World Cup and the U-20 World Championship in Argentina. Ahearn was also the associate director of the Chicago City Soccer Camps.

A 2000 graduate of DePaul, with a degree in communications, Ahearn played for the Blue Demons from 1996-2000. In his four-year career, Ahearn played in 67 games, and started every contest during his last three seasons. As a senior, he was named the team's most valuable player and was named third-team all-Conference USA.

He holds a USSF National A coaching license. Ahearn and his wife Katie are the proud parents of a one-year-old son, Frankie.
