Bryan Pape was named the assistant men's rowing coach in July 2008.
A native of Simsbury, Conn., Pape graduated from Colgate this past spring with a degree in economics and was a four-year member of the men’s rowing program rowing consistently in the eight and four.
During his freshman year he earned his way into the varsity eight boat where he would retain his seat throughout his collegiate career. During his sophomore year he took on the position of stroke of the varsity eight and tried his hand at the 6-seat, while also rowing in the varsity four. Pape’s junior year, 2006-07, will be one that fans of the Colgate rowing program won’t soon forget. As the 6-seat in the varsity eight Pape helped the Raiders reach the semifinals of the Temple Cup at the Henley Royal Regatta. That same season, as a member of the straight four, Pape reached the grand finals of the IRA. Last season he rowed not only in the eight and four but tried his hand at the pair.
Pape recently qualified for the 2008 Under 23 World Rowing Championship in Germany in the pair with former teammate Andrew Hatzenbuhler. The duo will represent the United States in the world championship, coached by Sanad, in late July.
