Beth Wood-Amir

Beth Wood-Amir works with the Colgate men’s rowing program as a volunteer assistant coach while working full time as reunion program coordinator in the university’s Office of Alumni Relations.
 
Wood-Amir was a four-year coxswain for the men’s team at Colgate prior to the program being elevated to varsity status. Wood-Amir served as the club’s president her junior and senior years, and was the recipient of the program’s Manley and Emily Parks Award, given annually for service to the team. Wood-Amir coxed the men’s varsity lightweight eight her junior and senior years.
 
After graduation, Wood-Amir taught French language at independent schools. She spent three years at Nichols School in Buffalo, where she also coached varsity girls crew and coed winter crew. Her 2003 girls four won a state championship. Wood-Amir then taught at Stuart Country Day School of the Sacred Heart in Princeton, New Jersey, for 12 years, also serving as a Dean of Students for three years.
 
Wood-Amir double-majored in French and Educational Studies at Colgate, graduating in 2000. She later earned an M.A. in French Language and Literature from Middlebury. Wood-Amir and her husband, Yariv, have two daughters, Morgan and Alison, and reside in Hamilton.
