Amanda Dudley

Amanda Dudley

Amanda Dudley joined Colgate Men’s Rowing as an assistant coach in August 2017. She arrives after four years as women’s rowing head coach at Pacific University in Oregon.

Dudley was the founding coach of the NCAA Division III program at Pacific. She oversaw all construction of on- and off-campus facilities and equipment, leading to a host role for the 2016 Northwest Conference Rowing Championships. Dudley also handled the program’s on- and off-campus recruitment.

“Joining the exceptional athletics department here at Colgate is an exciting next step for me personally and professionally,” Dudley said. “I’m fortunate to be able to return home to Upstate New York while simultaneously advancing to the NCAA Division I level in my coaching career.

“Coaching the men’s teams at William & Mary and St. Lawrence were great experiences, and I look forward to working with the young men who row for Colgate.”

Before being named head coach at Pacific, Dudley served three seasons as assistant coach at her alma mater, St. Lawrence University, where she assisted both the men’s and women’s programs. In between working at St. Lawrence and Pacific, Dudley was a U.S. Rowing National Team intern during the summer of 2013.

She was a novice men’s coach for the William & Mary Rowing Club while studying for her master’s degree at the College of William & Mary, and spent the spring of 2009 as men’s novice rowing coach at Lake Braddock Secondary School in Fairfax Station, Virginia.

While coaching at Pacific, Dudley for the past two years served as Summer Waterfront Manger of the Antique Boat Museum in far upstate Clayton, New York. Clayton sits on the St. Lawrence River near Lake Ontario, and Dudley supervised a part-time sailing school and skiff livery staff while preparing for Pacific’s first year of competition. She oversaw all motorized operations as well as scheduled captains, maintenance and storage for all of ABM’s fleet. Dudley previously worked for the Rose City Rowing Club in Portland, Oregon, as a Learn to Row instructor during the spring of 2014.

Dudley is a Syracuse native who rowed for Liverpool High School.

She earned her bachelor’s degree French in 2008 from St. Lawrence and was a varsity rowing team member. She added a Masters of Arts in Education, majoring in Secondary Foreign Language Education (French), from William & Mary in 2010; and a Masters of Education, majoring in Educational Leadership & Administration, from St. Lawrence in 2013.
