Biography

Senior Year (2011): Burns participated in the Penn State National and finished second for Colgate with an overall time of 23:11.  She also finished third at the Paul Short Invitational, covering the course in 23:03.  She didn't fail to show up at the Patriot League Championships finishing fourth on the team with a time of 23:20, which helped Colgate clench third place.

Junior Year (2010): Once again Burns was one of the top runners for the Raiders. At the Harry Lang Invitational Burns finished 2nd overall, behind classmate Elise DeRoo with a time of 15:54. She was able to have arguably her best season at Colgate with great performances at the Paul Short, Penn State Nationals, finished 2nd overall in the Patriot League Championships with a time of 20:07, and on her way to a quality showing at the NCAA Qualifiers.

Sophomore Year (2009): Burns ran a strong race at the Harry Lang Invitational finishing 4th for the Raiders and 13th overall with a time of 17:11 for the 4400m course.  She once again was able to cross train her way through the season and still came up with quality performances in ECACs, Patriots running a 25.23, and NCAAs running a 24.47 for the muddy 6k.

Freshman Year (2008): Burns started off her collegiate career finishing first for the Raiders at the Harry Lang Invitational.  Burns ran a personal best 6k of 23:13 at the Paul Short Invitational, finishing second for Colgate.  At the UAlbany Invitational, Burns ran a season best of 18:54 for the 5k.  Burns consistently finished top two for Colgate. Burns went on to excel in Indoor and Outdoor Track.  She ran the Raiders top mile with a season-best time of 5:10.62 at the Lafayette/Rider Winter Games and clocked a season-best time of 10:27.70 in the 3,000m.  Coming back from a two-month break from running due to a stress fracture, Burns ran a season-best time of 4:46.26 in the 1,500m at the Patriot League Championship finishing 9th overall.

Before Colgate: Was a four-year letter winner in Cross Country and Track, and helped lead her team to the Metro League Cross Country Championship in 2004 and 2005 and the Metro League Track Championship in 2005-2007 ... was named the teams’ Most Valuable Player in both Cross Country and Track as a senior, and was named Most Inspirational Player in Track, clocking bests of 10:57 for 3200 and 5:06 for the mile ... served as Captain her senior year ... was also a three-year letter winner in swimming and a member of the National Honor Society.
