Four Crews Compete at Head of the Schuylkill

Men's Frosh/Novice 8+ earned third place finish

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. —  The Colgate men's rowing team competed in four events at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta on Saturday in Philadelphia, PA.

Colgate's college frosh/novice four was the first boat to launch for the Raiders. The crew placed fourth out of 20 crews with a time of 13:24.821, beating out entries from Temple, Washington College, Fordham, and Case Western.

The Raiders in the frosh/novice eight clocked in at 11:57.339 and earned a third-place finish. The boat held a lead over the University of Delaware by two seconds (11:59.626) and had a 30-second gap on all other competitors.

The championship eight, coxed by sophomore Rina Borenstein, crossed the finish line sixth out of 45 crews (12:03.998). Colgate edged out La Salle by less than a second (12:04.533) and finished ahead of Marietta, Marist, and the University of Pennsylvania.

Racing was rounded out by the men in the championship quad. The crew placed fourth in the event with a time of 12:25.582.

"The team had a good day of racing.  All crews raced hard against some very tough competition and we showed some good speed on the water."

UP NEXT
The Raiders will conclude their fall season by competing on Nov. 2 at the Princeton Chase in Princeton, N.J.
