Women's Swim & Dive Leads Colgate Invite

Raiders combine for six first-place finishes

HAMILTON – Colgate Swimming & Diving's 2025-26 season is off to a hot start with the Raiders combining for six first-place finishes on Friday evening inside Lineberry Natatorium. Hosting the annual Colgate Invite, the women's team leads with 553.5 points, while the men's team is in second (393). 

Women's Recap
The women's team took charge down the stretch, winning three of the last four events. MG King, Audrey Collins, and Lucy Art captured gold in their respective races, while the 400 Medley Relay also brought home a first-place finish. 

King secured first place in the 100 Back, clocking in a time of 57.76 – half a second faster than their teammate Allie Phillips, who finished second with a time of 58.32. King also met the podium in the 200 Free, turning in a time of 1:54.35 to place second. 

Collins brought home gold for Colgate in the 200 Fly, securing a time of 2:05.44 to beat her nearest opponent by almost five seconds. Lucy Art continued her stellar performance in the 50 Free, capturing gold with a time of 24.26 in the final event of the day for the women. 

On the diving board, Ellie Sundin continued to shine with a third-place score of 218.55. The Raiders took the podium in 13 total events.

Men's Recap
The men's team also found success late in the event. First-year David Brophy led the way with two victories, while Matt Freund and Michael Granin took silver in their respective events. In all, the men's team found the podium in eight different events. 

Brophy's first win came in the 200 Free with a time of 1:43.44, besting Michael Granin who finished second after touching the wall in 1:45.56. Brophy's success continued in the 200 Fly, where he clocked in with a time of 1:55.50 to take home gold ahead of second-place teammate Matt Freund (1:56.36). 

Jack Schurtz-Ford captured a pair of third-place finishes in the 100 Back (52.76) and 50 Free (21.55). Nick Klein also placed third in the 1650 Free with a time of 17:02.82, while Sam Adelson secured a podium bronze in the 3-Meter Dive with a score of 286.73.
