Raiders Fall to Buffalo

Alli Popham Makes Five Saves

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Alli Popham made five saves as the Raiders fell 3-0 to University at Buffalo on Sunday afternoon.

COACH HOKANSON'S COMMENTS

"We knew today's game was going to be tough, playing a very good Buffalo team at their place on senior day. To give credit to our team, I thought generally speaking we did some really good things today. Buffalo punished us for mistakes, as good teams will, but I felt we really responded well in the 2nd half and had the better run of it for stretches. We'll regroup and attack an exciting week of games back on Beyer-Small this week to close out non-conference."

HOW IT HAPPENED

The first real chance of the match did not come until the 13th minute as the Buffalo striker got in behind the Raider defense and ripped a shot off the crossbar.

Shortly after the first chance, Buffalo took the lead on a strike from 18 yards away finding the bottom left corner.

The Bulls doubled their lead in the 21st minute with a volley from just outside the goal mouth.

Colgate looked to have a threatening counter attack halfway through the first half but the Buffalo defender blocked Ari Bezanson off before any shot on target.

Buffalo scored its third on a penalty kick just before halftime.

Ari Bezanson passed to Sophie Wand on the top of the 18-yard box and Wand fired a shot just off target in the 61st minute. Moments later, Anna Keeling took a free kick from 30 yards away forcing the Buffalo goalkeeper to make a save.

Colgate was unable to find a goal and fell to Buffalo 3-0.

Alli Popham made five saves in between the pipes for the Raiders.
