HAMILTON — Fred '50 and Marilyn Dunlap Head Football Coach
Stan Dakosty announced on Tuesday that his father,
Stan Dakosty, Sr. will be joining the 2024 coaching staff in a Senior Analyst role. Dakosty Sr. stepped down from his position as Head Coach at Marian Catholic High School in 2023 where he served for 43 seasons. He retired as the 12th winningest head coach in Pennsylvania high school football history.
"Anytime you can bring in someone with decades of experience, it'll have a big impact on a lot of levels of your program," Dakosty said. "Couple that with my dad's familiarity with Colgate football and our culture, and it's a great addition to the staff and our team."
Over the course of his 40+ year career, Dakosty amassed 326 wins – all at Marian Catholic –good for the highest win total in all of Schuylkill County and in the PIAA's District XI. His hall of fame career included multiple district and conference championships, along with a state title in 1990.
The legendary coach originally stepped down in 2016, but returned three years later to once again revive the program and build it back into a championship contender. In just three seasons, Dakosty took his Colts back to the District XI title game in 2023, leaving the program with a solid foundation for a successful future on the field which bears his name.
The Pennsylvania State Hall of Fame coach will join the Raider sidelines in 2024 with Colgate set to open the season on the road Friday at Maine.
