Track and Field Gears Up for Upcoming Indoor Season

Coach Chelsea France Begins Her Second Year

HAMILTON – The Raiders track and field teams will take a trip to Ithaca this upcoming weekend for the Greg Page Relays at Cornell University. The meet will be the third consecutive year Colgate opens up in Ithaca, N.Y. and the second full year for Coach Chelsea France.

""We're excited about this season's schedule," Coach France added. "The goal for this season was to put our student-athletes in some of the nation's best competition at high level track facilities to prepare them for championship caliber performances and I believe we have done just that. It's great to witness the progression of the level of competition our team is now prepared to face this year. Our team is strong, gritty, and up for the challenges this new season will present us. We're ready to start this journey and continue to raise the standard of what we can be as a program."

Colgate's men's team will look to bounce back after finishing eighth at the Patriot League Championships last season. Senior captain Cole Blair returns as a key contributor for the Raiders. Blair was the 2023 indoor long jump champion and finished first in the long jump at the Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational.

Captain Ethan Eisner comes back for his fourth season as a Raider. The senior ran in seven meets last season including running the men's distance medley relay at the Patriot League Indoor Championships earning a 3rd place finish and breaking the school record with a collective time of 9:53.21. Dakin Ebmeyer, Ben Horner, and Liam Davis were also part of the school record performance and all are returning for another indoor season.

Joining Blair and Eisner as captains are Owen Holland and Ben Horner.

Kiran George returns for her sophomore season after winning high jump indoor pentathlon at the Patriot League Indoor Championships last year, breaking a school record with a leap of 1.68m.

Melinda Haagensen broke her own school record four times throughout the indoor season last year and will look to continue to write her name in Colgate history this upcoming season.

Captain Clare Gillis competed in seven meets last season including breaking the school record in the 300m with a time of 40.30 at the Greg Pages Relays last year. Gillis is one of five captains, sharing the leadership with Sara Tabibian, Kara Shepard, Taylor Mitchell, and Julianna Hallyburton.
