Women’s Swim & Dive Leads Colgate Invite

King, Mascarinas Earn First Place Finishes on Day 1

HAMILTON – The Colgate men's and women's swimming and diving teams kicked off their 2024-25 seasons with the first of two days of the Colgate Invite inside Lineberry Natatorium.

MG King won the 200 Yard Free and the women's team sits in first place with 426 points, leading second-place UMass (376) by 50 points. The men's team was led by first-year Deacon Mascarinas who took first place in the 100 Breast and landed a pair of top-five finishes.

King accounted for a team-best 33 points with a first-place finish in the 200 Free, clocking in at 1:56.36 which shaved two seconds off their entry time and clipped second place by .20 seconds. King also placed sixth in the 100 Back with a time of 1:00.56.

Emma Senglaub brought home a pair of top-five finishes, highlighted by her fourth-place tally in the 200 Yard Fly with a time of 2:11.26, more than six seconds faster than her entry time. Senglaub was second on the team with 29 scoring points.

Katie Senglaub and Julia Quernemoen each scored 21 points for their team. K. Senglaub placed third in the 1650 Free with an impressive time of 18:07.05, more than 40 seconds faster than her entry time.

Quernemoen finished second in the 400 IM with a time of 4:39.50, just over two seconds off the leader's pace. The first-year also earned a 13th place finish in the 100 Breast.

On the men's side, Mascarinas paced the field in the 100 Breast with a time of 57.80, just under a second faster than his closest competitor. The first year also contributed to the 400 Medley Relay team with Jack Schurtz-Ford, Scott Pejic, and Will Hill that placed fourth.

Michael Granin shined in his Colgate debut earning a third-place finish in the 200 Free with a time of 1:45.42 and fifth place in the 100 Breast clocking in at 59.51. Schurtz-Ford earned another top three finish in the 100 Back with a time of 53.10.
