PHILADELPHIA –  Colgate women's rowing competed against multiple schools from throughout the East Coast in the 2023 40th Memorial Murphy Cup.

The Raiders launched a total of four boats throughout the day including all three of their v8 boats and their lone v4 boat. 

Colgate started the day in the 3b Women's Collegiate Varsity 4+ Heat 2, the v4 boat netted a third-place finish from lane one. They finished with a time of 8:14.45 with a delta of 21.95 and a split of 54.48. 

Shortly after, the Raiders launched their 1v8 boat in the 9b Womens Collegiate Varsity 8+ DI Heat 2, scoring a time of 7:00.52  with a delta of 21.60 and a split of 22.77. With their time in heat 2, they moved into the 9P1 Womens Collegiate Varsity 8+ DI Petite Final, placing third with a time of 6:56.75 with a delta of 3.66 and a split of 5.72. 

Colgate's 2v8 boat competed in the 12b Womens Collegiate 2V 8+ Heat 2, placing third from lane five and scoring a time of 7:05.48 with a delta of 11.20 and a split of 37.91. 

The Raiders' final boat was the 3v8 as it took part in the 7 Womens Collegiate 3V 8+ Final, finding a fourth-place finish from lane six. They scored a time of 7:28.09 with a delta of 6.39 and a split of 21.78.

"Our 3v8 and v4 had good races today and made good progress from last week. The 2v8 also improved a lot from last week and had a good heat but unfortunately missed making the grand final. 

"The 1v8 struggled in their heat which then placed them in petite final. I was very pleased with their reaction to the heat and how they could turn things around for their final. Overall, we have a lot of work to do these next two weeks but we are excited to get back to it and find more speed!"

Colgate takes a short break from the water and they gear up for their own Colgate Regatta in Rome, N.Y. on April 22nd.
