Colgate Concludes Patriot League Championships

Raiders concluded 2023 season at the Patriot League Champioships

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Colgate Swim and Dive wrapped up the 2023 season at the Patriot League Swimming and Diving Championships at Bucknell University.

The relay of Brooke Garretson, Elizabeth Rainey, Audrey Collins, and Jordan Hurt grabbed fifth place in the 400-yard freestyle to take the best finish of the day for the Raiders. The quartet came in at 3:25.51, the fastest time the Raiders have recorded since the 2014-15 season.

Nora Bergstrom claimed 11th place in the 1,650-yard freestyle coming in at the fastest record time for Colgate since the 2012-13 season at 17.19.27. Bergstrom was followed by Dana Witte in 15th place at 17:33.88 and Katie Senglaub in 21st place with a final time of 17:51.15. For the men, Peyton Wray placed 20th, coming in at 16:26.03, .40 second faster than the nearest swimmer.

Individually, Garretson grabbed 11th place in the 200-yard backstroke with a final time of 2:01.52.

Freshmen Collins and Freund placed in the top 15 in the 200-yard butterfly, with Collins coming in 10th at 2:01.92 and Freund in 13th place with a final time of 1:51.75.

The Raiders capped off the day with the 400-yard relay, with the men's squad placing ninth to go along with the women's fifth-place finish. Jack Lira, Freund, Cooper Luedde, and Ryan Jee came in at 3:06.58 to post the fastest time since the 2015 season to finish Colgate's 2023 campaign.

Colgate ended the tournament with the women in eighth place (202.5 points) and the men in 10th (107.5 points), compared to last season's championships when the women finished with 154 points and the men's 80 points. The Raiders have not recorded totals this high in five seasons. Overall, the men's team doubled their individual scores from 1-to-2, while the women boosted their scores from 3-to-7.

Both of Navy's teams won the 2023 Patriot League Championships, with the women finishing with 799 points and the men with 856.5. Army and Bucknell rounded out the top three for both the men and women.
