Collins and Hurt Highlight Second Day of League Championship

Audrey Collins broke a freshman record on the second day of the Patriot League Swimming and Diving Championships.

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Freshman Audrey Collins and Junior Jordan Hurt grabbed fourth-place finishes for Colgate on the second day of the 2023 Patriot League Swimming and Diving Championships.

First-year standout Collins placed fourth in the 200-yard IM, coming in at 2:00.82. Collins' stellar showing in the event not only broke the freshmen record, which she previously held. She also posted a personal best in the event as well.

Hurt garnered the other fourth-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle, coming in at 23.45 seconds, just .2 seconds of the swimmer in front of her.

Brooke Garretson and Ryan Jee also placed in the 200-yard IM for Colgate, coming in at 12th and 15th place with final times of 2:03.00 and 1:50.25.

The last event of the day for the Raiders was the 400-yard medley relay in which the women placed eighth while the men finished in ninth. Garretson, Hurt, Collins, and Regan Hau came in at 3:49.44, while Jee. Matt Freund, Matthew Szypula, and Jack Lira finished at 3:22.83.

The women fell to seventh place with 106.5 points to end the day, while the men maintained ninth place with 60 points.

Navy leads the championships for the women (268.5), followed by Army (246) and Bucknell (180).

Army overcame Navy to take first place for the men (305.5). Navy (298.5) and Bucknell (192.5) round out the top three for the men.

Day three of the tournament continues on Friday, with the preliminary round starting at 10 a.m. and the final round commencing at 6 p.m. inside Kinney Natatorium.
