ROME, N.Y. — The Colgate men's rowing team opened its season at the Founders Cup Regatta on the Erie Canal in Rome, N.Y on Saturday, taking first place at the event.
The format of the event was 4x1000m. The races were run in time trials, with the best combined time being declared the winner.
The Colgate Empacher boat placed first with a time of 12:31.50, finishing 13 seconds ahead of Hamilton's top boat. The boat also posted the best time of the day in time trials, crossing the finish line in 3:09.6.
Additionally, the Colgate Hudson boat finished with a final time of 12:40. 1, which placed ahead of Hamilton's next boat by four seconds. Its best time of the day was 3:09.9, ranking third-best among all the boats.
Hamilton's varsity eight placed third with a time of 12:44.6, while its second varsity eight took fourth, logging a time of 13:32.7.
