Raiders Take Home Another First Place Finish

Colgate's Varsity Eight Goes Unbeaten for Second-Straight Weekend


OAK RIDGE, TENN. — The Colgate men's rowing team was victorious for the second weekend in a row with the Raiders' varsity eight taking home first place at the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championship Regatta.

With the victory, the Raiders earned automatic qualification to the IRA National Championship Regatta, making them the first team this season to do so. 

On Friday, Colgate took first place out of 16 boats in the time trial, coming in at 5:40.52 and advanced to the semifinal.

Saturday's semifinal saw the Raiders take another first place finish with a time of 6:07.75. Colgate defeated boats from Central Florida, Delaware, Vanderbilt and FIT in the race. 

The Raiders then advanced to the final where they would cross the finish line in 6:10.82, four seconds ahead of the second place boat from Jacksonville University. 

UP NEXT
Colgate is off next weekend before competing in a double dual against Ithaca and Hamilton on April 30 in Rome, N.Y.
