Yariv Amir '01 to serve as Interim VP, Director of Athletics

HAMILTON – Vice President and Director of Athletics Nicki Moore will be leaving Colgate University to begin serving as the Meakem Smith Director of Athletics and Physical Education at Cornell University, starting in the spring semester.

Deputy Athletics Director Yariv Amir '01, who has built a wealth of experience during nearly 21 years of athletics administration at Colgate as well as Princeton, will serve as Colgate's Interim Vice President and Director of Athletics. A national search for Colgate's next athletics director will begin shortly in the new year.

The University remains committed to the athletics priorities set forth in the Third-Century Plan, including major renovations to Reid Athletic Center, increased endowment support for athletics, and the provision of more support for our student-athletes.

Dr. Moore, Colgate's vice president and director of athletics since 2018, led the Physical Education, Recreation, and Athletics division through a series of significant initiatives during her tenure on campus, all while Colgate student-athletes have maintained an extraordinary level of academic achievement, boasting one of the highest graduation success rates in the nation.

The Raiders during Moore's tenure have won nine league championships, with teams going on to compete in 13 NCAA and Intercollegiate Rowing Association postseason competitions. Program support improved through advances in fundraising, the negotiation of a department-wide Under Armour contract, and an overhaul of the strength and conditioning program.

New student-athlete support services and leadership programs were implemented including Raider Refuel, the Colgate Mental Performance Program, Wellness Advocates, and Career Ambassadors. Additionally, a comprehensive four-year student-athlete development programming plan was launched in Fall 2020.

Facility improvements since 2018 have included improvements across sports with projects improving lighting, turf, recruiting spaces, flooring, and locker rooms, as well as a new video board, sound system, and plaza at Andy Kerr Stadium.
