Collins Highlights Raiders During Day Two of the WVU Invitational

Colgate Continues West Virginia Invitational

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – The Raiders wrap up day two of the West Virginia Invitational with Audrey Collins continuing to make strides for Colgate.

Just like the first day of the invitational, Collins was the only Raider to place in the top five after capturing a fourth place in the 400-yard IM with 4:29.98. Keeping her streak of breaking personal bests, this is a new career-low for Collins in the 400-yard IM event.

The Raiders opened the day with the women placing 12th in the 200-yard medley relay. Collins, Mackenzie Ferguson, Regan Hau, and Elizabeth Rainey came in at 1:45.26. For the men, Matt Freund, Ryan Jee, Jack Lira, and Matthew Szypula placed 11th, coming in at 1:33.69.

Addisyn Donfris and Jordan Hurt recorded 20th and 21st place in the 100-yard butterfly, coming in at 56.85 seconds and 57.23 seconds. Freshman Jee grabbed 17th place for the Raiders finishing in 49.81 seconds, a career-best for the Greenwich, Conn., native.

Coming in shortly after Collins in the 400-yard IM was Maggie DeLillo in 18th place with 4:34.35. Szypula placed 19th with 4:11.31 for the men.

Jee steadily continued placing in the top 20, finding himself in 19th place with 57.77 seconds in the 100-yard breaststroke. Fellow freshman Hau placed 23rd with 1:05.86.

Ferguson found herself right outside the top 15 in the 100-yard backstroke, placing 16th with 57.01 seconds.

The final event of the day was the 800-yard freestyle. Elke Ambach, Emma Senglaub, Brooke Garretson, and Dana Witte captured 11th place with 7:42.89. Right behind them at 7:43.39 was Nicole Ben-David, Reilly Brennan, Donfris, and Rainey. The Raiders had two more quartets racing, as Nora Bergstrom, Danielle McNerney, Alexandra Mehos, and Zoe Stokes placed 15th with 7:57.66. Following the 15th-place ensemble were Alexis Burton, DeLillo, Lanyon Mlinek, and Katie Hand at 7:57.66.

For the men, the Fab Four of Freund, Jee, Lira, and Szypula placed seventh with 6:56.51. Fellow Raiders Cooper Luedde, Alex Rose, Emmet Santry, and Peyton Wray captured 10th place with 6:59.64.

The men enter the third and final day of the invitational in seventh place with 297 points, while the women start day two in eighth place with 352 points.
