Colgate Battles Bucknell to Scoreless Draw

Non-Divisional Match Results in 0-0 Stalemate

LEWISBURG, Pa. – 110 minutes were not enough for either team to find the back of the net and Colgate and Bucknell battled to a double-overtime scoreless draw on Saturday at Emmitt Field.

Colgate's defense picked up its second consecutive shutout and this time did not allow a shot on goal. Bucknell had the better chances in the first half, but could not find the net with five shots off target.

The Raiders turned up the offensive heat in the second half and created a handful of scoring opportunities. Justin Weiss fired Colgate's first of three shots on frame in the 48th minute. He sent a low shot from roughly 20 yards out but it was caught by Bison keeper Bennett Schwartz.

Colgate's two best chances came off the boot of Chris Noriega. In the 60th minute he took a pass from Simon Hall in the middle and had a nice first touch on the right side of the box. Noriega looked to curl it in at the back post and just missed scoring when it tapped the crossbar.

Noriega earned one more opportunity in the 79th minute. He laced a low shot with his left foot from the left side of the box, forcing another strong save from Schwartz.

Bobby Foose struck a shot on goal in the 83rd minute and Colgate earned two corner kicks late in regulation, but could not cash in. Drew Fischer and Simon Fisher fired two shots in overtime, but neither strike found the net and the two teams settled for a scoreless draw.
