Late Push Falls Short at Bucknell

Patterson Moves into Fourth All-Time in Draw Control Wins with Play at Bucknell

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Colgate women's lacrosse program made a late push with a four-goal run, but the clock would expire to settle on a 13-11 final at Bucknell on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Bucknell was the first to strike, but after Noelle Patterson tied it up, Cara O'Reilly claimed the first lead for Colgate. It would continue as a back-and-forth game, in which Kyra Lucey reclaimed the lead yet again at 3-2. It would be a short-lived lead though as Bucknell went on to tie it a second time.

That was, until Patteron's second kept the alternate scoring going. Colgate would stay on top for several minutes, but Bucknell tied it a third time at 4-4, but for the first time since the opening goal, the Bison took the lead back at 5-4 with back-to-back tallies.

Narrow up until that point, the game shifted as a 5-1 run by the Bison made it an 8-5 game heading into halftime.

Looking to build off of its momentum, Bucknell opened the second half with a pair before Eliza Soutter answered by scoring back-to-back to reach the three-goal gap. Bucknell responded with three straight midway through the half as the clock began to tick down on regulation.

Into the final 10:00 the Raiders made an offensive push looking to tie the game. A four-goal run would come through the final stretch, but fell just short as the horn sounded on a 13-11 final.

HEAD COACH KATHY TAYLOR'S TAKE
"Days like today remind me that it's a journey - that seasons like life, have ups and downs. This year has had a plethora of challenges and today we ran into yet another. We found ourselves down again going into the half and gave up a few quick goals early in the second.

"Our belief system has been challenged as of late and while we fought back to get the score closer and give a chance, the clock ran out on another game. We will regroup and reinvest this week in hopes of finding our groove going into playoffs."

UP NEXT
With the cancellation of the Holy Cross matchup due to CoVID-19 protocols, Colgate's next scheduled game is Satruday, April 24 at Boston University. First draw is set for 4 p.m. on the final game of the regular season.
