Seven Goal-Scorers Lead Raiders to Victory

Colgate Improves to 2-0 In League Play behind 14-9 Win over Boston U.

HAMILTON – Improving to an undefeated 2-0 mark in the Patriot League was the Colgate women's lacrosse program as it claimed a 14-9 victory over Boston University.

Noelle Patterson's four goals and combination of seven goal-scorers lifted the Raiders to an important league win. Colgate continues conference action next Saturday as it travels to Lafayette.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The game's opening minutes showed tallies by Patterson and Eliza Farriss, before Colgate's lead was cut to one as Boston University quickly answered for a 2-1 game. A third Raider goal came by the stick of Cara O'Reilly, while after a 9:21 scoring drought, Hanna Christian recorded a highlight reel point for the first in her career.

Looking to swing the momentum, the Terriers notched one to make it a two-goal game, but Eliza Soutter was the one to answer to regain a temporary three-goal lead. It was a short-lived score though as BU got one within the minute for a 5-3 game.

In a steady half of scoring, O'Reilly and Patterson each added another to put Colgate further ahead, but before the horn, Boston would snag a pair. The 30:00 came to a close with the Raiders leading 7-5 behind their 12-5 advantage in shots on goal.

As the teams returned to the field, it took 9:35 for a team to score as the Terriers narrowed it to a one-goal game yet again. Grace Bowers was ready with the quick answer just 30 seconds later, a move that ignited a three-goal run for the Raiders. As Patterson bounced the ball into the cage, she increased the lead to 11-7 behind her fourth of the day.

Although Boston would add a pair, the Raiders didn't let up late in regulation. O'Reilly's hat trick tally closed out the scoring with just 47 seconds on the clock, extending to a three-goal run for the Raiders to seal the 14-9 victory.
