Late Run Lifts St. Bonaventure Past Colgate

McMahon and Golembieski paced the Raiders with 13 and 11 points, respectively

HAMILTON, N.Y. - After a back and forth final quarter on Thursday night it was a late run by St. Bonaventure that did in Colgate at Cotterell Court.

The Bonnies (6-3) upended the Raiders (2-7), 61-56, after they closed out the game by scoring eight of the final 11 points.

St. Bonaventure snapped their two-game losing skid thanks to a pair of offensive rebounds and three made free throws in the final 30 seconds of the game.

Colgate held a 44-41 lead when the fourth quarter started. The final 10 minutes saw three lead changes and a pair of ties.

Morgan McMahon led the Raiders with 13 points off the bench for her first double-digit scoring game of the first year's career. McMahon's points led Colgate's 22 bench points. Taylor Golembiewski added 11 points for her second straight double-digit scoring effort of the season. The fellow freshman now has five double-figure scoring games this season.

Alexa Brodie added 10 points and Katlyn Ghavidel chipped in with nine on a season-high three 3-pointers. Golembiewski pulled down six rebounds for the Raiders.

The Bonnies had three players in double figures led by Asianae Johnson's game-high 17.

St. Bonaventure led 14-8 after the first quarter and had built a 25-15 lead in the second quarter before Colgate closed out the first half with a 13-3 run over the final four minutes to knot the score at 28-28.

The third quarter saw three ties, including 40-40, before Golembiewski scored four of the final five points of the quarter with a lay-up and a pair of free throws that gave the Raiders a 44-41 lead at the end of the quarter.

Head Coach Ganiyat Adeduntan

"We competed tonight which is one of the things I asked my team to focus on. For that reason I do feel as though we took a step forward. There were a lot of takeaways from the game but it was apparent that rebounding affected our ability to close things out."
