Raiders End Season on High Note

Colgate Defeats Holy Cross 3-1 in Season Finale

HAMILTON— The Colgate women's soccer team ended its season on a high note, picking up a 3-1 win over Holy Cross at home on Wednesday evening.

The Raiders led 5-0 in shots in the 28th minute, getting some good looks from Nicole Appuzzi, Jenna Borovinsky, and Adrienne Vaughn.

In the 34th minute, Katie Quinn dribbled into the box and hit one off the left post that went into the goal, as the Crusaders took a 1-0 lead.

Colgate came out firing in the second half and would finally equalize when Ruby Diodati played a corner kick right to the head of Emily Amano who put it in the back of the net.

A few minutes later the Raiders had chances to take the lead with Diodati and Vaughn testing the Crusaders goalkeeper.

Colgate gained the advantage in the 69th minute when a free kick by Diodati found Borovinsky who headed it to Amano who finished it off for her second goal of the game.

Paige Foa put the icing on the cake for the Raiders in the 87th minute when she slotted one into the bottom right side of the goal off a pass from Vaughn.

Colgate led the Crusaders in both shots at 17-5, including 9-4 in shots on goal, and corners at 6-3.

The Raiders finished the season 7-8-1 overall and 3-4-1 in the Patriot League.

Head Coach Lyndse Hokanson

"I'm really happy for the whole team and program to conclude the season this way. We challenged the group at half to respond to the one goal deficit, and they did. Really happy for some of our first years and the performances they put together, and of course the way our seniors closed their careers here is something for them to be proud of as well. There are a multitude of ways tonight could have gone, and it felt nice to watch our girls get to celebrate together one last time on Beyer-Small '76 field after a win."
