WEST POINT, N.Y. – After another fast start, Colgate's early season shooting touch vanished and the Raiders dropped a 73-52 decision to Army here Sunday.
The teams split their opening two-game series and both stand 1-1 in the Patriot League North Mini-Conference standings.
Colgate to begin the game picked up right where it left off Saturday, streaking to a 28-10 lead heading into the final minute of the opening quarter. The Raiders to that point were on fire, shooting 10-of-13 from the floor and 5-of-6 from 3-point land as
Keelah Dixon and
Katlyn Ghavidel bombed in a pair.
But Army scored the final four points of the first period and the first 10 of the second. That 14-0 run sparked a combined 24-3 turnaround over a 7:16 stretch, flipping the Black Knights in front 34-31.
Colgate recovered on baskets by
Jenna Paul,
Lindsay Blackmore and Dixon over the final 3:08 to claim a 37-35 halftime lead, but the Raiders never were able to shed their shooting woes.
Colgate after a 28-14 first quarter advantage was outscored 21-9, 24-9 and 13-7 in the final three stanzas. The Raiders tallied just 25 points in their last three quarters combined and made just 8 of their final 50 field goal tries, including 2 of their last 19 from beyond the arc.
Dixon scored 15 and
Alexa Brodie 10 to top the Colgate scoresheet. Paul added career highs of 9 points and 7 rebounds. Army's Lauren Lithgow and Alisa Fallon tallied 16 apiece to lead all scorers.

Head Coach Bill Cleary: (On the game) "You're going to have those days. We did a really good job of continuing to do what we wanted to do game-planning wise, but I learned some things with the back-to-back games that we may try to do differently next time.
"Give credit to Army. They didn't back down and they clawed their way in. They were able to make the shots that we couldn't."
