Cornell Autumn Classic Results

ITHACA, N.Y. – Colgate for the second week in a row showed its depth in the water and the Raiders turned in some impressive performances at the Cornell Autumn Classic.
 
"We won the 8 Sprint in first flight of races and did well all things considered in the second flight sprint," Raiders assistant coach Anthony Chacon said. "Considering it was a mixed novice and JV lineup that practiced together once, it was a nice result.
 
"We have a lot of strong talent and the crew is young. With more time together, they will improve. Overall we had some strong finishing times in the 2- behind some of the top IRA teams. We were expecting a better result in the 4, so we will need to work on our strategy there. We took notice of the early speed of Ithaca, Hobart and Mercyhurst, who also performed well against the big IRA names like Syracuse and Cornell. We will face off against Mercyhurst and Ithaca again in spring, so we can show off our winter erg training."
 
Racing at this event consisted of two 3Ks and two 300Ms. There was a 3K and a 300 Super Spring back-to-back, followed by a break and then another 3K and 300M.
 
Colgate is back in action next week at the Frostbite Regatta on Saturday and the Bill Braxton Regatta on Sunday. Both events take place in Pennsauken Township, New Jersey.
 
Here are the results of each boat:
 
Men's 2-
Crew: Alex Damjanovic and Luke Smith.
Results: The Colgate duo placed fourth in the 3K with a combined time of 10:26.6. They were sixth in the 300M in 1:03.6.
 
Men's Novice 8+
Cox: Miranda Tompkins.
Crew: 8 Gian Civitello, 7 Noah Barkoff, 6 Elliot Duessel, 5, Seth Rosen, 4 Colin Clark, 3 Jack Foley, 2 Luke Davenport, 1 Ryan Pere.
Results: Colgate won the 300M, posting a time of 54.3 seconds. The Raiders were sixth in the 3K in 9:23.5.
 
Men's 4+ (First Flight)
Cox: Tali Filstein
Crew: 4. Andrew Smith, 3. Tom Feeney, 2. David McKay, 1. Connor Appleyard.
Results: Colgate placed 16th in the 3K in 10:11.2. The Raiders were 17th in the 300M in 1:04.1.
 
Men's 4+ (Second Flight)
Cox: Tali Filstein
Crew: 4. Luke Smith, 3. Alex Damjanovic, 2. David McKay, 1. Thomas Feeney.
Results: Colgate finished second in both the 3K and the 300M. The Raiders combined for 10:13.9 in the 3K and 58.9 in the 300M.
