Sanogo’s Hat Trick Paces Raiders Past Army

Sanogo Scores Three Goals; Raiders Remain Undefeated at Home

HAMILTON – Abdel Sanogo scored all three goals to lead the No. 24 Colgate men's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over visiting Army Saturday afternoon in Patriot League action at Beyer-Small '76 Field.

Sanogo got the Raiders on the board with his first goal of the season late in the first half. Kian Alberto pierced the Army back line with a through ball towards the net. Black Knights keeper Justin Stoll dove for the loose ball and attempted to smother it, but he could not collect it and Sanogo struck the empty net to give the Raiders the only lead they needed in the 37th minute.

Aram Ouligian had an early chance for the Raiders with a set piece from just outside the box but his low shot was blocked in front. Later in the half, Ryan Krueger worked his way into space and sailed a shot just high over the net after Chris DePetro chipped a cross in front.

Colgate maintained possession throughout the half and went into the locker room with a 9-1 advantage in shots. Kennan O'Shea issued the only shot for Army but it was off line as Jacob Harris was unscathed after 45 minutes.

The Raiders continued to control the pace of action in the second half and Sanogo took over in the final 10 minutes.

Steven DeLeo set up Sanogo's second goal with a great play near the end line on the right side of the goal. DeLeo slid to keep the ball in play and fired a cross to the center of the box, where Sanogo drilled a one-timer under the crossbar to double the Raiders' lead in the 80th minute.

Just 1:27 later, Sanogo completed his hat trick with Colgate on the attack. Tim Oberg dribbled down the right side and centered a perfect pass to Sanogo in front. Sanago found the open lane and struck a quick shot past Stoll to stretch Colgate's lead to 3-0 with less than nine minutes remaining.

Harris made his first save of the match on a long shot from Keenan O'Shea with just 16 ticks left to preserve the shutout for the Raiders.
