2018 Roster
HAMILTON – Head coach
Dan Hunt announced this week the return of
Brendan Walsh '15 to the Colgate football staff as an assistant coach.
Walsh arrives after two seasons at Division III Misericordia, where he was an assistant football coach and strength and conditioning coordinator under head coach Mark Ross. Walsh's first coaching job was in 2015 at Susquehanna, coaching tight ends and assisting with the offensive line.
"It was an easy call to bring Brendan home to Colgate," Hunt said. "He was a starter on the highest scoring offense in Colgate history, so he knows our expectations and our culture. He has stayed connected with our program while he began his coaching career.
"He was a fixture working all of our summer camps, and he showed there that he has all the makings of a great coach. I am beyond excited to have him back."
A native of Waldwick, New Jersey, Walsh made 18 consecutive starts at center for the Raiders during his sophomore and junior seasons before being sidelined by injury.
He spearheaded Colgate's 2012 undefeated run to the Patriot League championship, helping the Raiders finish as the fourth-ranked offense in all of FCS. Among the marks set that year were school records for points per game (39.4), total offensive yards per game (486.4) and total rushing yards (3,414).
"It is an honor to return to Colgate Football," Walsh said. "It is a place with an extremely proud winning tradition and I am excited for the opportunity to continue to build up that tradition.
Walsh spent the 2014 seasons as a Colgate student-assistant coach during Hunt's first season leading the Raiders.
"I had the pleasure to work with the staff as an undergraduate and look forward to learning from a great group of people," Walsh said. "Thank you to Coach Hunt and the rest of the coaching staff for the great opportunity to return home."
His new coaching position for Colgate is with the running backs.
