BUENA VISTA, Va. – The Colgate women's lacrosse team exploded for 16 goals Tuesday afternoon as the Raiders stormed past the Radford Highlanders 16-4 with the game played at The Fields at Southern Virginia University.
Haley O'Hanlon (Garden City, New York) tallied a team-high four goals and five points as she picked up her sixth consecutive hat trick in the victory.
Lindsay West (Bedford Hills, New York) also scored three goals for her third career hat trick.
Nine different players scored goals for the Raiders Tuesday afternoon, including first career goals from
Olivia Duarte (Middletown, Delaware) and
Anna DiSibio (Summit, New Jersey).
Kate Kelly (Summit, New Jersey)
Noelle Patterson (Vestal, New York) also scored their first goals of the season.
Kyra Weiner (Rumson, New Jersey) picked up an assist for her first career point in the win.
Goalkeeper
Samantha Croston (Mount Sinai, New York) played one of her best games of the season as she picked up 10 saves on the 14 shots she faced, including six saves in the first half.
O'Hanlon got the Raiders on the board 5:23 into the game with her first of four goals before the Highlanders tied the game less than two minutes later, 1-1.
The Raiders really got going after the Highlanders goal as they scored six goals in 4:20 to take a 7-1 lead in the game.
Payton Gabriel (Lakewood, Colorado) and Duarte scored goals 19 seconds apart from one another to take a 3-1 lead.
Colgate scored the next four goals within a minute of the last, including the final two goals of that stretch from West.
Juliette Ruland snapped Colgate's consecutive goals streak with 15:47 to go in the first half but West capped off her hat trick 8:37 later with her third of the game. Kelly rounded out Colgate's first half with a free-position goal to make it 9-2 at halftime.
Including West and Kelly's goals at the end of the first half, Colgate scored eight consecutive goals to take a 15-2 lead over Radford for it's largest lead of the season.
Kristen Brigagliano (Brightwaters, New York) opened the half with a goal before O'Hanlon netted back-to-back goals to complete the hat trick.
Natalie Gwynn (Canandaigua, New York) netted a goal to give her a point in a third straight game before DiSibio capped off Colgate's scoring with her first career goal.
