Late Holy Cross Run Hurdles Colgate

Raiders in Mix for Three-Plus Quarters, Fall 61-52; Graham Leads with 11 Points

WORCESTER, Mass.Colgate led at halftime and was within striking distance well into the fourth quarter until a late Holy Cross surge lifted the Crusaders to a 61-52 decision.

The Raiders scored the game's first eight points and held Holy Cross without a basket for the opening 5:43. Kateri Stone's bucket in the final minute made it 13-8 after one quarter.

Colgate went back in front 20-12 on Chelsey Koren's 3-pointer with 5:10 remaining before half. It was 24-20 Raiders at intermission.

Once again, Colgate pushed the margin to eight at 30-22 on Tegan Graham's layup with 8:10 left in the third. But back-to-back 3-pointers got the Crusaders churning and Holy Cross grabbed its first lead of the game at 33-32 on a 3-ball by Kathryn Pedi with 4:00 on the clock.

The first of two Graham 3-pointers pulled Colgate within 40-38 heading to the fourth.

The teams exchanged leads over the first three minutes thanks to a Summer King layup, Mackenzie Carroll's 3-pointer and Mylah Chandler's layup that made it 45-44 with 7:10 remaining. But that was the final Colgate lead as Holy Cross scored the next 13 points over a 3:55 stretch to take control.

Graham led the Raiders with 11 points. Chandler filled up the stat sheet with six points, 10 rebounds, a season-high six assists and two steals. King blocked a career-high four shots to go with nine points and six boards.

Abby Schubiger added eight points in 12 minutes.
