WORCESTER, Mass. – Colgate led at halftime and was within striking distance well into the fourth quarter until a late Holy Cross surge lifted the Crusaders to a 61-52 decision.
The Raiders scored the game's first eight points and held Holy Cross without a basket for the opening 5:43.
Kateri Stone's bucket in the final minute made it 13-8 after one quarter.
Colgate went back in front 20-12 on
Chelsey Koren's 3-pointer with 5:10 remaining before half. It was 24-20 Raiders at intermission.
Once again, Colgate pushed the margin to eight at 30-22 on
Tegan Graham's layup with 8:10 left in the third. But back-to-back 3-pointers got the Crusaders churning and Holy Cross grabbed its first lead of the game at 33-32 on a 3-ball by Kathryn Pedi with 4:00 on the clock.
The first of two Graham 3-pointers pulled Colgate within 40-38 heading to the fourth.
The teams exchanged leads over the first three minutes thanks to a
Summer King layup,
Mackenzie Carroll's 3-pointer and
Mylah Chandler's layup that made it 45-44 with 7:10 remaining. But that was the final Colgate lead as Holy Cross scored the next 13 points over a 3:55 stretch to take control.
Graham led the Raiders with 11 points. Chandler filled up the stat sheet with six points, 10 rebounds, a season-high six assists and two steals. King blocked a career-high four shots to go with nine points and six boards.
Abby Schubiger added eight points in 12 minutes.
Tricia Byrne and Patriot League scoring leader Lauren Manis led the Crusaders with 13 points apiece, with Manis adding 10 rebounds.
