HAMILTON—The Colgate Men's Soccer team gave their 12 seniors a night to remember on Friday at Beyer-Small '76 Field.
On the evening that the team honored those dozen that will be graduating soon, Colgate needed just one moment to capture a final victory heading into the postseason.
In a game that was territorially dominated by the Raiders, their strong play showed on the stat sheet in the first half, as they outshot the Terriers 8-0, which included a 4-0 edge in shots on goal. Unfortunately for the home side, they could not sneak one past goalkeeper Mike Bernardi in the opening 45 minutes.
The second half continued on with the trend of the Raiders playing well, but it also brought about the game's first and only tally.
Just over five minutes into the second half,
Oliver Harris found space and sent a ball in to
Steven DeLeo, who broke free from the Boston defense. From there, he ripped a shot to the left side of Bernardi, which the Terrier keeper got a piece of, but not enough. The ball tucked inside the post for DeLeo's second of the year.
The chances continued to pour in for the Raiders throughout the remainder of the second half. Perhaps the best came from
Uyi Omorogbe, who faked past a pair of defenders, before his shot inside the 18-yard-box was blocked away.
When the dust had settled at the end of 90 minutes, the Raiders had given up just a pair of shots, but none on frame to close out the victory.

"I want to congratulate our seniors," said Ronning. "Every one of them represented Colgate on the field tonight and they did a fabulous job. They set the tempo for the game and we never looked back."
- "At halftime, we challenged our young men to come out with a little more urgency and they responded," said Ronning. "We got the goal we needed and that's the way games in the Patriot League are going to be. They're going to be tight, one-goal game affairs in a lot of cases."
- "It's always a positive going into the postseason to have a solid goalkeeper and a quality defensive effort," said Ronning. "With that, you give yourself a chance to move on in every postseason game."
