HAMILTON – Mara Cosentino scored a pair of first-half goals and the Colgate women's soccer team cruised to a 2-0 victory over Cornell Tuesday at Beyer-Small '76 Field.

Colgate claimed an early lead off the foot of Cosentino in the 12th minute.
Ellis Miller fired a shot but it was blocked by a scrum in front of the net. The deflection went directly to Cosentino at the doorstep and she sent it home to give the Raiders the 1-0 edge.

The Raiders dominated possession and doubled their lead with Cosentino's second goal in the 35th minute.
Adrienne Vaughn delivered a through ball past the Big Red back line and Cosentino was there for the one-touch goal inside the right post to extend Colgate's lead to 2-0.Â

Several scoring chances and heavy offensive pressure highlighted the first half for the home team.

Emily Amano blasted a shot just high off a corner kick by
Abby Sotomayor in the 24th minute.

Lindsey Wiley earned a great chance midway through the half but she slipped a shot just wide after
Ruby Diodati spun a perfect cross into the box.
Sophia Boggs was solid with three saves to hold the 2-0 Raider lead at the half.

Hannah Pinkus opened the second half with a shot just high over the net after a cross into the box by Sotomayor less than two minutes in. Â

Vaughn and Sotomayor unleashed a pair of shots off the crossbar and Cosentino nearly notched her hat trick but the shot sailed just wide as the Raiders recorded a season-high 27 shots in the match.

Colgate held Cornell without a shot on goal in the second half as Boggs picked up her first shutout of the season with the 2-0 final score.Â
