Men's Soccer Derails Bucknell

Goals From Kiingi, Harris Hand Bison First League Loss of Season

LEWISBURG, Pa. – A pair of second-half goals by Baraka Kiingi and Oliver Harris paced the Colgate men's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Bucknell Saturday in Patriot League action at Emmitt Field.

After a scoreless opening 45 minutes, Colgate took control in the second half to hand Bucknell its first league loss of the season.

Kiingi opened the scoring with exactly 20 minutes left in regulation after Kian Alberto centered a corner kick in front. Christian Clarke muscled off a defender to send the ball to Kiingi, who whistled a low shot inside the right post from 12 yards out to give Colgate the 1-0 lead.

Just 2:16 later, Harris provided an insurance goal with the Raiders once again pressuring heavily on offense. The senior midfielder cut in to clear space at the top of the box and sniped a curling shot inside the left post to double the Raiders' lead in the 73rd minute.

Freddy Jonsson came away with a couple strong looks down the stretch and Harris nearly added another in the final minute but his shot soared high as the Raiders went on to win, 2-0.

Jacob Harris was strong in goal, securing the clean sheet with two saves in the second half. The junior keeper finished with three saves in all after the two teams traded a shot on goal apiece in a scoreless first half.

O. Harris had the best first-half opportunity for Colgate with a shot from the center of the box but it landed in the arms of Bucknell keeper Ryan Ott. The Bison earned seven corner kicks in the first half but could not break through the Raider back line.
