DURHAM, N.H. – A goal from sophomore
Leah Lewis helped Colgate tie its Friday night game at UNH at 1-1 in the 70th minute, but the Wildcats answered with the game-winning goal just six minutes later to defeat the Raiders 2-1.
The Raiders out shot UNH 4-0 in the opening 15 minutes, forcing Wildcat keeper Mia Neas to make two saves in net. Colgate continued to control possession, limiting the Wildcats to just two shots in the first 30 minutes.
Colgate sophomore keeper
Kelly Chiavaro came up with a huge save in the 36th minute on a UNH breakaway chance to keep the game scoreless. The Wildcats were able to convert five minutes later, however, when Brooke Murphy took a scrambled ball and sent it into the left-side netting in the 41st minute.
A header from junior
Shannon Pawlak nearly tied it up a few minutes later, but Neas made a quick-reaction punch over the crossbar to preserve UNH's 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
The Raiders had a few good chances in the opening 25 minutes of the second half, but it wasn't until the 70th minute that Colgate was able to tie the game. Lewis tossed in her first career goal on an assist from sophomore
Dom DeMarco to put the score at 1-1.
The Wildcats answered just six minutes later when Murphy slotted home her second goal of the game to take a 2-1 lead with less than 15 minutes left in regulation.
Murphy then played hero on the other end of the field in the final seconds when she cleared a shot from senior
Emily Crichlow off the goal line while the keeper was caught out of position to secure the 2-1 UNH victory.

- "UNH is a talented, opportunistic team. We did a good job moving the ball, but lacked some urgency in finding the back of the net. Kelly Chiavaro was outstanding in goal and kept us in the game from start to finish. We'll continue to build on the positives as we prepare for Sunday's contest vs. BC."
